This new home is located in an inner city neighborhood in Atlanta. This project was designed as a Spec House for a Builder to sell to an unknown buyer. The lot might have been considered “un-buildable” to most due to the intense topography. One side of the house is built into the hillside and the other side is hanging off the side of a steep hill. The back yard retains it’s privacy without the need of a fence. In order to provide access to the back yard for equipment, a second garage door was placed opposite the main garage door on the front. Even the main level of this house feels like a tree house. Real stone veneer and solid wood siding were used on the exterior, which is becoming rare. Today you find synthetic stone and cement board siding. Ten inch wide planks of walnut were used for flooring and some wall accents. No expense was spared for this house and it showed when it sold for top dollar that year.
